See the quality, barely feel the width Sent: 03 September 2010 No searchlight pattern on mine. No dead pixels either, but I had it checked first. It's pretty, incredibly slim and light and yet has decent, clear sound for most programmes coming from such improbably sized speakers (not much bass, but I use a pretty powerful surround system for movies and music). Connection & reconnection is easy due to the swivel stand. It has an Anynet+ feature that seems to work with my Pioneer BD player and receiver... when the input is detected, sound is diverted automatically. One reviewer says beware the DLNA.. I don't know why: I manually typed in an IP address (it would probably pick one up if my network was set to allow it) and every device was recognised. I was soon able to rapidly retrieve photos from my NAS, play videos taken from my camera, and play Youtube content. BBC iPlayer is now implemented. The media interface is even easier than Sony's XMB, and is the most intuitive I have used. My wife can use it (nuff said). Good viewing angle.
Picture quality - breathtaking on Freeview HD. Good, but not quite so impressive on SD freeview, a bit overbright and red, and needing of tweaking, but there are more than enough parameters to tweak! (Not having hours to spend experimenting, I have found in the past it's useful to wait for the "Which?" review and start from theirs). Sky HD box seemed disappointing at first, but moving the Sky box contrast up to medium from low has made a vast improvement. Blu-ray absolutely superb. Ive seen better SD on a couple of sets, but the HD performance functionality and ease of use make this a brilliant set - very satisfied customer.
So close . . . . Sent: 30 July 2010 Took delivery of this tv on Monday & have been very impressed with the clarity of the pictures & the depth of colour it manages to produce. Especially so watching blu rays or gaming on the ps3. Standard freeview looks pretty good as well. The picture is a world away from my old 37''Sony LCD. Sound is acceptable but won't be blowing you away but i'm gonna buy a surround system as they are so cheap nowadays. Had a play with the internet apps & the seem pretty good so far with the likes of picassa, google maps, love film.com, facebook, i-player & several others.
1 annoying issue tho , that it seems has affected other customers is the dreaded ''backlight bleed'' when watching dark scenes. Its really noticable when a films credits are rolling or the ps3 shows a black loading screen. I don't know if this is just a by product of having an LED screen or what but I'm prepared to overlook it as when there are images on the screen (i.e 99.5%) of the time they are an absolute pleasure to see
SAMSUNG C6530 Sent: 26 July 2010 A 100% SATISFIED CUSTOMER, GREAT PRICE, GREAT PRODUCT. DOES WHAT IT SUPPOSED TO DO. PLUG AND PLAY.
Almost perfect - beware cloudy black areas Sent: 12 July 2010 Good points:
Very sharp screen with wonderful inky blacks and terrific colour rendition. Great 1080P performance, attractive design with a quality metal stand. Exciting potential of having Ethernet broadband port built in. Built in Freeview HD tuner. Awful 'Motion Plus' feature can be turned off. 4 x HDMI ports.Good SD upscaling. Low power consumption, light weight.
Bad points:
When viewing in slightly dark environments, there are definite 'cloudy areas' in black parts of dark scenes. My understanding is that this is a by product of the LED component of the screen. Most of the time it's not an issue but watching a dark/moody film at night will bring this issue to the fore - and once you know it's there it very annoying. Freeview HD tuner has major hum when using the headphone socket (for external speakers for example). Ugly remote.
Internet widgets of very limited use
This is nearly a perfect screen.. be aware of it's limitations however I am happy enough with mine.
Samsung LED are the business! Sent: 19 June 2010 I felt impelled to write a review of this TV (6530 40") like the other reviewer I have "graduated" from a 17 Year old 19" JVC telly to this?
I am technologically up to date in every other area apart from my telly.
To say that I am impressed by this TV would be an understatement, it plays everything I throw at it (I also invested in a samsung blu-ray player bd-c5500 at the same time) and I now have both my external hdd media players connected up to it, Ethernet connected thro a switch to my BB connection on both TV and Blu Ray, my Desktop PC and my Laptop and net book, ( if samsung you also get the added bonus of all things samsung recognizing each other, TV's Players, Mobiles, Netbooks, Laptops etc, etc.)
NB I still have 1 HDMI port free
The picture quality on the TV In my Honest and humble opinion is stunning, now I am biased moving from a 17 year old dirtbox CRT, but even friends who have modern flat screens say the picture on the UE40C6530 is stunning.
Yes its expensive but as the sage says "To buy cheap is to buy expensive" and "you only get what you pay for".
And the new chicken foot stand, again in my opinion is better then the previous flat square stand.
Also bear in mind and to the best of my knowledge Samsung are now into their 2nd or 3rd generation of LED telly's, and personally I have loadsa Samsung stuff, all of it with no exceptions performs to the highest standard and does exactly what it says on the tin
I trust this brief review helps others who are still debating on this TV
Highly recommended
Regards to all
