I don't really like wearing neck straps on cameras, but inevitably this is a risky approach. One day the inevitable happened and I dropped the camera. The body was OK, but the focus on the lens no longer worked (cheap lens, but it still cost me £80 to replace).
I bought this wrist strap, and so far it seems ideal. It's easy to put on and is very unobtrusive. And not very expensive, so good value for money.
A bit too spongey Sent: 06 June 2010 The concept of a one-handed camera carrying strap is a very good one. The plastic quick detach clip is rock solid, but the neoprene strap itself is too rubbery and stretchy. Used with a DSLR it just feels too elastic to trust, as though the camera is doing a bungee jump. It would probably feel much safer with a lighter camera, but is quite large and would look very big carrying a compact.
COMFORTABLE AND SECURE Sent: 28 January 2010 Purchased this to use with my panasonic G1, small SLR.Panasonic Lumix G1 Digital System Camera Kit - Black (12.1MP) Previously used a neck strap, but found that I spent most of my time with the strap wrapped round my wrist to secure the camera in my hand. Looked at and tried various wrist straps, but found them either insecure, or they made it difficult to use the camera controls. The Op/Tech strap is well made, comfortable on the wrist, and allows easy access to the camera controls. It is compact and sits easily in the camera case so you can slip it on your wrist and adjust it before lifting the camera out. A simple, well thought out way to keep your camera secure. BAZ
