Surprisingly good for the money Sent: 16 December 2008 I ordered this unit because I needed to be able to watch our sky+ upstairs and didn't want the multiroom option. The unit is surprisingly good considering the price. The picture quality is excellent and the unit is quite compact. I would have given the Video Sender 5 stars but the remote control extender part is not really practical. It took me 2 hours shouting to my wife upstairs to position the little ir transmitter which controls the downstairs devices but this can easily get moved accidently. So practically this part is not so good. Therefore I think that a seperate remote control extender should be acquired. Otherwise I would recommend the unit for picture quality, range, and operation which is easy.
Good value for money Sent: 13 December 2008 I wasn't sure about this product, but the reviews on this page made me think that it would be worth ago, as I was finding it hard to justify getting sky multi-room.This product isn't perfect, but is well worth the price tag.I use this on my bedroom TV which is around 5 meters away from the source TV. I found out very quickly that some electrical item interfere with the signal. This drove me mad for a few days, turning on and off electrical items to see if they made and effect. I first thought that it was the wireless router, but turning it off didn't make any difference. The picture was good but there were lines and loud annoying break up of the sound.I was surprised to find that the Xbox 360, when plugged in interfered, once unplugged, the transmitter worked great.I was impressed that we could control Sky plus from the bedroom.Well worth the money, but be prepared for a bit of messing around to get it up and running.
Works, but not very well. Sent: 08 December 2008 Must say I was dissapointed with the performance. I am in a ground floor flat, with a 12M distance seperating transmitter from receiver (front room and master bedroom). I have Tiscali+ TV box, which I was hoping on emulating the picture, sound and remote functions from the bedroom.
- The remote did not work, I was 50/50 on this, as most of these things are designed to work with Sky products. So if this would of worked, I saw it as a bonus, and am looking at getting a dedicated IR product just for this purpose.
- The sound was fine, slightly tinny but perfectly acceptable.
- The picture was poor. On all four channels there was little performance difference. I had a constant granny image, and although everything was viewable it was poor image quality. The closest I can comparte this to would be to watching an old VHS tape, with all the minor interferences. I gave it a couple of days before I finally gave in and concluded that this was not good enough.
I have returned this for a full refund, and am looking at alternatives. I suppose this might be good enough for someone not too bothered about the quality of the image, however I found that it was not good enough.
Hope this helps.
Very Very Pleased Sent: 18 November 2008 Having read the two reviews for the Thomson VS680U wireless TV sender and also having just bought a TV for my conservatory, and rather than drilling a hole through two walls and having wires on show I decided to buy this sender. I thought at just over £20 if it didn't give a good result I would not be to bothered... BUT WOW what a terrific piece of kit, easy to setup and gives a great picture. I can now watch my DVD recorder/cable/and VCR all by remote control in my conservatory. It's the
best £20 I've ever spent. My family and friends were also pleasantly surprised.
