Had this for three days now, extremely impressed with the features and quality - I specifically wanted a TV that did 1080P via Component (as my '360 doesn't have an HDMI output), and think I made an excellent choice.
The image quality when running games is fantastic (having come from a Thomson 28" CRT, which I always thought looked pretty good anyway). Glad I chose this over the 37" Toshiba model I was also looking at.
Other reviews have stated that the sound is lacking; personally, I think it's fine - both for games and films.
In summary: plenty of config options, plenty of inputs, very happy with the service from Amazon.

No secret that SONY is more expensive than other brands, but if you want less chance to have problems, SONY is second to none.
Great TV - I second the other reviews regarding image and design. It's very nice to go with other Sony stuff, as you can take advantage of the BRAVIA sync and have all your stuff controlled by any remote control (TV, Home Theatre and Blu-Ray. You can even control the handycam).
To not say it's perfect, a couple minor issues: The USUAL low quality sound of (all?) LCD TVs (if you pay for a TV like this one, please get a home theatre system) and it misses a digital coaxial audio output (it has only optical)

I was looking to get a new television for our living room and most recently had a 37 inch Toshiba HD Ready LCD which I was happy with however the black levels weren't that great. So I searched for a new TV, I wanted 1080p given my old model didn't have it and I wanted LCD as I game a lot and I wanted a decent price.
I had a family friend who'd commented the 'WHICH' review said the V series weren't that good, and I also saw the 2 star comment from another reviewer in Amazon. My opinion (and let it be seen as only that) is that the HDMI had no pausing disadvantages, and as yet I have had no issues with the television. I did however notice the exact same message given for the 2 star review was also pasted on other sites also. So I would say to any future buyer, please ignore the 2 star reveiw as I have not encountered any such issues.
As noted however, please see that What-Hifi gave it 2 awards and also hdtvtest gave it a good review also. I did get mine from John Lewis for 499 delivered with a 5 year warrantee, so I believe thus far it has been a great investment and I'm loving using it for all it's uses: Wii, 360 or PS3 play, blu-ray and HDTV also using a V+ box. I particularly like seeing the gleams in peoples eyes taht I couldn't see before.

40V4000 + PS3 = GAMING HEAVEN , try this set with any next gen console and you will not be disappointed ,wipeoutHD, mgs4, call of duty all look amazing and blu ray movies are just fantastic, best purchase ever

I spent many hours trawling reviews and websites looking for a high spec tv to replace my 32" basic model. I am not very technically minded and just knew that the important things to look for were Full HD 1080p and a decent contrast ratio, which at 33,000:1 is way beyond what is offered elsewhere. With the Sony reputation for quality it didn't take long for me to place my order.
Arriving within 3 days I was bowled over by the ease at which I was able to set everything up. The various connections are really conviniently located towards the one end and not in hard to reach spots, with one HDMI located on the side - very handy for quick access. There's also a nifty little cabe tidy built in to the stand which is welcome little bonus.
The picture quality is fantastic and really is worth upgrading for. The sound is top notch too and the remote is well thought out so minor personal adjustments are very easy to carry out. If you anything like me and rarely read the instruction manuals the simplicity of the controls for this are perfect for you.
I love it so much, I almost want to buy another one!
