PRODUCT REVIEW

Product Description Give your favourite photos a permanent place on your desk with the DPF-D70 from Sony. This digital photo frame is the perfect way to view and share your memories in bright colour on a 7-inch LCD screen. Its 256 MB internal memory means you can store up to 500 photos and display them in HD quality, while its memory card reader, which is compatible with the most common formats such as Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, SD, MMC, CompactFlash, MicroDrive or xD, gives you even more storage space. Thanks to its intelligent sensor, the DPF-D70 automatically turns the image to the most appropriate viewing angle, and there is even an HDMI socket, ideal for connecting your HD TV for giant-screen slideshows. An automatic editing mode also lets you add those finishing touches to your photos!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

simply the best frame on the market Rating stars Sent: 06 January 2009
Well i have done my reaserch and after weeks of deleberating on which frame to buy i chose this sony. its one of the best on the market crystal clear pictures easy to set up/use and at an unbelieveable price quite simply outstanding!!!

Vague instructions Rating stars Sent: 06 January 2009
I was given one of these as an unexpected Christmas present. I found the instruction booklet a bit vague but eventually got it set up and it looks really smart.I can not find how to set up a split screen with clock and photgraph. The instruction manual says it can be done but doesn't tell you how! Has anyone else tried this? Mind you, both would be very small so might not be of much use.
For the price there should have been a USB cable supplied but I am lucky in that having a sony camera, a cable came supplied with that which I could use.

Overpriced for a 7" photo frame Rating stars Sent: 30 December 2008
This frame has a 800x480 16:9 widescreen, so images are cropped and detail is lost. For this price you can either have the Varnam VM830BT Touch Sensitive Digital Photo Frame which can play video as well and it comes with an internal battery. Otherwise you can opt for the DekoElite 8 inch Digital Photo Frame 800x600 pixel high resolution with internal memory with an excellent picture quality.

Quality product with very good results Rating stars Sent: 26 December 2008
Have just received this as a Christmas gift (albeit, specifically requested) and I am very impressed with it.

In common with the other reviews, this is a high quality piece of hardware and produces very good results for the price with many useful features to enhance the viewing experience.

Like others, a rechargeable unit would make it a little better, but that has to be set against remembering to charge it and moving it to a charging point anyway so it's not too much of a problem. And yes, a wireless set up would save some inconvenience in adding/editing files, but for the price, neither feature is going to be available on a product of this quality.

If you don't have a mini USB cable already, it would be a little annoying to find that one isn't supplied, but most folk with a computer and digital camera (without which this product is limited in use anyway) are likely to have a suitable cable in their arsenal of bits.

I would recommend this product to anyone considering a digital photo frame.

Good build quality Rating stars Sent: 06 December 2008
This is currently, December 2008, the cheapest of the Sony LCD photo frames and Sony themselves are selling it for £20 more. It has a wide range of features to display photos and a fair amount of internal storage so you're unlikely to need to buy a new memory card. The build quality is excellent and the picture clear. The frame is attractive but, as other reviewers have commented, the screen does reflect light from table lamps for example so needs to be positioned with some care.

If you want a premium quality photo frame at a reasonable price this is the model to go for.
