Attention Mac Users Sent: 05 December 2008 This is a great little gadget to record WMA, it really is tiny. There's no software and, with a PC, I'm sure it's plug and play. However, I am a Mac user and it did not work straight away, so I had to download a WMA player, but once I found one I was ready to go.
Report from very harsh critique Sent: 23 November 2008 I am the harshest critic I know. I am not easily please with electronics especially if they don't perform everything they're meant to do. This particular product exceeds my expectation and is the best on the matket. I have carried out extensive research and all was pointing to this one. Tip on if you're using this:
Buy a powerful battery; it will last.
Set the settings to low cut (reduces general noise level), HQ (high quality, although have to sacrifice space) and enable voice filter (lowers crowd level and concentrates on main speaker).
Great quality and easy to use Sent: 08 July 2008 I am very pleased with this digital recorder, which I am using for recording one to one interviews for my Masters degree dissertation. I have not needed an additional microphone and have found the recordings to be very good quality, even when recorded outside with building works going on in the background.
It is Mac compatible - I have used this feature to 'back-up' the recordings onto my Mac for peace of mind. I have not tried playing them back through my laptop but understand that Macs will need extra WMA software to do this.
A really small, neat easy to use, good quality product at a good price.
WS-110 Digital Voice Recorder Review Sent: 16 April 2008 This item is tiny, in fact once you pull off the battery section to expose the usb plug it is about the size of an 'L' shaped memory stick.
It sounded a bit hissy at first but partly this is due to the tiny speaker - if the device is plugged into a usb port (its detected like a memory stick) and the voice file dragged over and played on my computer it is perfectly clear. I have a linux operating system so it works even on that.
To get it even clearer I plugged in an external microphone and on playing back the file on my computer there is no noise/hiss. An external microphone cuts down on noise from holding the device itself and pressing its buttons as it picks up every little bit of sound.
With or without a microphone it is clear, it has a number of settings to cut out low or high frequency sounds but I haven't played with them yet.
Those are my first impressions and I am very happy with it.
