Bought this for my student daughter so she could record interviews for her final year project. Does just what it says - easy to use, good pick-up range, just put it on the table between two speakers and off you go.... come home, install the software and download to the PC. Really simple!!!

Like the other reviewers, I found this to be an excellent voice recorder; well laid out, logical menus, good PC interface and good battery life.
However, after about 5 weeks usage, mine locked up and only showed a blinking "CHK" for about 2-3 minutes before settling on "ERR" and refusing to work.
A quick Googling shows that this, apparently, is a common problem with Olympus voice recorders and that the fix means you loose everything on it (that wasn't backed up to a PC) since you have to "reboot" it by pressing STOP and ERASE simultaneously for 3 seconds - which also wipes the memory!
Mine did not reboot and has had to go back for a warranty repair. If I had the option (it was unfortunately not bought through Amazon), I would have preferred to return it and instead bought a different brand. I really don't want to risk loosing any non-backed up recordings and now can't trust this device since it appears prone to crashing.

Love this product! Delivery was very prompt. Received within a couple of days of ordering. Compact design without too many complicated buttons to play with. Very easy to set up and use. Got mine done in less than five minutes! Not bad for a middle aged guy! Instructions were very easy to follow. Once I'd put my glasses on! The range of the internal mic is suprisingly good. I could pick up people talking normally from 5 or 6 metres away! All that you would want from this kind of product and at a very reasonable price. I'd recommend this item to anyone looking for simplicity and value for money.

This Digital Voice Recorder is easy to set up and use, with clear, perfectly-sized controls. It's compact, light and strong (I accidentally dropped it!) and the voice activated recording function works well.
I can't fault it at all!

Received this 10 mins ago - set up in a minute (just time and date), software loaded without hitch (on Vista 32-bit using supplied disk).
All in all, very happy. Compact, lightweight, simple to operate. Quality of recordings seems fine. Transferred files to PC without fuss - WAV format - converted to mp3 with Audacity in seconds.
What I thought might be a headache to source proved to be simple and surprisingly inexpensive. Thanks to all that wrote reviews before me which helped me decide.
