Product Description It doesn't get better than this. With more pixels than any other digital photo frame of this size (20% more pixels than the Sony DPFV900B 9" and the Kodak 8" Easyshare, and over four times the number of pixels on a standard 7 inch frame. The image quality of the NIX 8" Touch Sensitive Digital Photo Frame is simply the best available. The display dimensions are optimal at 4:3, because 4:3 is the standard dimension of digital photos taken by a digital camera. So unlike the Sony DPFV900B 9" or the Kodak 8" Easyshare which both have widescreen displays (16:9), on the NIX frame your photos will occupy the whole display, without your photos being cropped. The Touch Sensitive Controls are a fantastic and beautiful feature, lighting bright blue (on & off) upon your touch, and allow you to control all the frames functions. With MP3 music playback, a calendar & alarm clock this frame also makes a great bedside or desktop feature. The video feature allows you to watch videos taken on your digital camera or downloaded from the internet, and the massive 1GB internal memory provides ample memory to hold a multitude of your home movies and photos. In fact the internal memory is large enough to hold an entire downloaded feature film, which you can watch and listen to in stereo sound. The remote control allows for easy control from a distance. Whether it's sharing your family photos and videos in the living room, watching downloaded feature films in high resolution on your bedside table or listening to music at work on your desk, this frame does it all, in style and with the finest build quality.
Fantastic Product Sent: 17 December 2008 Bought this as a birthday present after extensive research. Had a number of wants that needed filling.
1 Easy to use
2 Able to play videos
3 Able to view landscape and portrait photos easily
This fulfills all those specs and more. Literally put in the SD card and away we went. The operation is intuitive and simple and the little remote is helpful if you wish to rotate a photo from a distance.
I was nearly put off purchasing by one review that said the slideshow always starts from photo number one but thankfully I ignored that and instead trusted another review which said you can select where you want to start from the thumbnails and they were right.
Brilliant we're now going to get another for the in-laws who are complete techno phobes because even they can't get this one wrong
Good hardware, poor software Sent: 06 December 2008 No need to say it all again - it's nicely made, looks and feels good, the screen and picture quality is superb. Only hardware weakness is poor speakers, like listening to music on a mobile phone.
What lets it down is poor software. After a time it becomes annoying that it always starts the slide show at the beginning. There is no random function, and you can't set it to carry on where it left off. With a massive 1GB memory and the ability to play from an even larger memory card it may never reach the end. Also there is no internal file structure, so you can't choose a particular set of pics. And as has been mentioned, your preferred brightness setting etc. reverts to default if it's even put on standby.
A good product, but it could have been so much better.
Such a good looking product! Sent: 18 November 2008 We had been looking round for a few months for a digital photo frame but they all seemed rather old fashioned. We read the remarks regarding this particular frame and felt that this one was worth trying. It looks good; is very stylish and modern; and very easy to operate. We were concerned about the negative comments regarding the slide show feature re-starting at the beginning each time it is turned off, but we have found we can start the slide show from any picture using the thumb nail feature, so we haven't found it a problem. Not sure about the touch features as this smears the frame; much better to use the the remote, although this seems a bit flimsy, (this is only a small niggle.) We like being able to put in different memory cards together so that we can separate different slide shows without having to change memory cards. As silver surfers we find the whole system easy to use. We would recommend this product to anyone and their grandparents!
Nix 8" High quality, user friendly digital photo frame Sent: 07 November 2008 NIX TS08A High Resolution 8 Inch Digital Photo Frame with Touch Sensitive Controls, 1GB Internal Memory, Remote Control, Video & MP3
What a great product-being in 4:3 ratio it shows the whole photo unlike the wide screen frames. The screen is crystal clear and the frame sturdy. It has a really good sized internal memory, will take several types of memory cards and will play music files at the same time as showing photos in a slide show. The calendar function showing a month with time of day at the top and a small sized slide show to the right is another nice touch. MP4 video clips will play with sound too. It can also be used as an alarm clock with the ability to set a time for the slide show to start and finish. I am delighted with this item and am ordering one for my family for Xmas. It is excellent value for money considering the quality and style.
