Product Description August 7 inch DA700B is a high quality portable digital and analogue TV with built-in SD/MMC/MS card reader and USB port manufactured with the latest technology supporting teletext in the UK (it may be the only 7 portable TV with this feature at present) . It is designed for you to watch Freeview & analogue TV, listen to digital radio and play video, music and photos stored in a SD/MMC/MS memory card and or external media via the USB jack. It can be powered by AC/DC adaptor, car adaptor and optional external battery box.
It can be used as a monitor for playing games and Freeview box to output TV to a larger screen.
Please note that there may be difficulty to receive Freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong. This is due to that the Freeview service (freeview.co.uk) in the UK does not fully support portable TV antenna at present. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program (digitaluk.co.uk). A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (Please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to Freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings and etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to watch Freeview channels in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna.
excellant choice Sent: 28 November 2008 first bought the 9 inch model for home, and soon after bought this 7 inch model for truck,,,excellant volume, picture, and good signal for pickin up freeview,,you dont need all the technical bumf,,buy it,,it wont let you down.
Nice Little TV, but it's features are a bit quirky Sent: 17 November 2008 Nice little TV, I fitted it to the wall in our small kitchen. No signal from the supplied aerials, I had to connect it to an outside aerial. Now we have a great picture, with plenty of freeview channels.
Sound quality is not so good. OK for television but very 'Tinny' if listening to radio channels.
I purchased this TV because it can also be used to view digital photographs, which it does (though the picture quality is not as good as a dedicated digital photo frame), but there is no slideshow function - you have to change pictures using the remote. I am dissapointed with this, a small feature that would make this unit much better.
Finally, the menu structures & remote control operation are not the best.
So, it's a good little TV for the money. Don't expect too much from it.
Brilliant TV Sent: 26 September 2008 This August 7 inch LCD replaces my 10 year old 14 inch Sony CRT TV and I am so glad I did that. Very smart design, it is perfect size for my bedroom. The picture is brilliant, although the sound seems a little bit tiny for me when it is noise outside (I live close to the main street), but what can you expect more from such a small device.
It only picked up a few freeview channels and four on analogue using the small antenna supplied, but once connecting to my roof aerial, it easily picked up all the freeview channels and radio. It has built-in card reader and usb port, but I am mainly using the usb function to listen to the music downloaded from the internet.
I found the sleep and wake up function very useful, I like falling asleep while watching TV, I use the timer so that I can watch a show or movie while drifting off without shortening the life of the TV or worrying about my electricity bills. It can also be set up to turn on automatically or pop out a message to remind me the show I want to watch on a different channel.
The interactive teletext service is very useful as well, easily catch up with the latest news in the world, sports, or what will be on.
Overall, I am very pleased with this device and look forward to spending a lot of time with it.
