Mini dock Vs Docking Station  Sent: 02 March 2010
I needed a way to transfer my downloaded films on to the tv/projector. Having looked at the price of the docking station I decided to buy the snap ons as the 2 together ( one to copy from TV to Archos and this one, Archos to TV)came to less than the docking station.
It works very well and allows you to send your images to the TV via either S video or componanant,It also allows the content from a flash drive to be thrown to the TV. its a shame that the usb conector does not allow an external mouse or keyboard to control the archos. Still not a major problem.

Bought this to take to our holiday home abroad so we can watch UK TV and videos which I download onto my Archos. Easy to set up and use. Only one criticism. Why did they design it with a curved base rather than a flat one which would stand up on its own? Weird!

I've had this Mini Dock for my Archos 5 for about 4 months. My first impressions of it were that it's very small and lightweight which is good because it's already been away on a couple of holidays with me and doesn't take up too much space in my handluggage. It's been very useful as it charges the archos 5 within 2 or 3 hours which is a lot faster than it takes when I just plug the archos into my PC. Also as i've been using the archos abroad I haven't had a PC with me to plug it into so really needed the dock. With the dock you can easily attach to any TV with composite cables so I can easily bring a large collection of films with me to play on bigger screens at my friends houses or even just on my TV downstairs which is too far away to connect directly to my PC.
The disappointing features are that it seems to be made out of really thin tacky plastic that feels like it could break easily. Some of the connections are very close together so it's hard to have say a usb device plugged in at the same time as the composite cables. And when you plug it into the archos it's not big or heavy enough to support the acrhos' weight so it's not easy to stand the archos up at a viewing angle to watch video whilst charging.
It's quite easy to look past those downsides though because this dock is so useful and should really come inclusive with the archos.

This is a godsend !!!!!
Without this I will be STILL charging my Archos 5. Also I don't have to switch on my PC to transfer files from my big external drive as you can connect it directly and it will be recognised.!!!
